you put the shell to
your ear but
instead of the ocean
you heard
the hazel tree
tell you
grow grow



Betrayal, Heartache, and What I Wore
a dress of crimson velvet
crushed like our dreams
rough against my skin
like my ex-boyfriend's stubble
